During academic year 2010/11 we presented the following scholarships:
Shell UK Limited Petroleum Engineering Scholarship – 10 Petroleum Engineering students applied for this scholarship with 6 being interviewed and 4 awards of £750 being presented.
Angela Stewart-Grant Scholarship – 4 Science students applied for this scholarship and were all interviewed. 2 students were successful and received £250 each.
Scholarship in International Cuisine – 6 Catering students applied for this new scholarship and they all participated in a 'cook off' competition. 1 award of £1000 was presented.
Russell Trust Scholarship – nearly 200 students from across the College applied for this scholarship and a record number of 37 students were awarded varying amounts from £100 – £500.
Diageo Engineering Scholarship – 6 Engineering students applied for and were interviewed for this scholarship and 2 students were awarded £1000 each.
Ian Rankin Writing Scholarship – 17 Media Production and Journalism students applied for the Ian Rankin Writing Scholarship. 6 students were interviewed and 3 students were awarded £600 by Ian Rankin personally.
John Kelly Scholarship – 17 Business students applied for this scholarship and 8 were interviewed. 2 awards of £400 were made.
NHS Fife Scholarship – 6 students were nominated by the Curriculum Heads for Access to Nursing courses and 3 students were awarded £250 each.
Vettriano Art Scholarship – a record number of 32 students applied for this scholarship, 10 were interviewed and 4 awards were made.
Independent Living Scholarship – an addition to the scholarship programme for 2010/11. 13 students were nominated by their Curriculum Heads with 7 being interviewed and 2 being awarded with £500 each.
Arnold Clark Scholarship – received through money from a prize draw this scholarship will run for 15 years. 1 student received £500 and was delighted when the Managing Director from Arnold Clark offered him an apprenticeship also.
Cahal Dowds – another new scholarship to the programme for 2010/11. This scholarship is to help kick start students looking to set up their own business. The students had to submit a business case and successful students attended an interview. One student received £1,500 to help set up his business.
These scholarships have awarded £24,300 and have provided a total of 62 students with financial assistance to support their studies.
