Our Summer School 2012 is timetabled from 23 July to 17 August 2012 – minimum stay of two weeks starting on 23 July,
30 July or 6 August 2012 (dates may be subject to change). The School combines excellent English language tuition with a holiday in this lovely coastal part of Scotland. It is designed to improve your English and your knowledge of British and Scottish culture in a relaxed and enjoyable way. It is also suitable for students who wish to brush up their English language skills before they start a career-based college course.
All classes take place in our St Brycedale Campus – a modern, light and airy building in the centre of Kirkcaldy. The St Brycedale Campus is located just minutes away from the train and bus stations, shops, parks and cultural attractions of this bustling seaside town.
What You Study
This course will increase your confidence in using everyday English. It consists of 19 hours of tuition per week including four hours project work or directed study. Classroom activities are lively and interactive and will develop your English communication skills.
English Extra
Students follow the General English course but also benefit from the full social programme and evening leisure activities. Every week there are two local half-day activities and one full-day excursion per fortnight. The social programme includes trips to popular destinations such as Falkland Palace (where Mary Queen of Scots spent her summers), the medieval university town of St Andrews and Edinburgh Castle. Ceilidhs (traditional Scottish parties) and exploring the Fife coastal path are also popular activities for Summer School students.
