Adam Smith College Principal Dr Craig Thomson demonstrated his pride in students at the College’s Leven Campus recently.
In recognition of this magnificent achievement by the students, Dr Thomson, took time to meet the students and offer them his own personal congratulations.
He said: “At Adam Smith College we take great pride in our students and for so many to receive recognition from the Fife Adult Learners’ Awards is indeed something to celebrate. We recognise that the students have overcome many barriers and faced up to many challenges in their learning journey.”
Dr Thomson went on to give a special mention to Donna Millar (36), from Methil, who not only won the Personal Achievement Award but was also ‘crowned’ Learner of the Year, nominated by Fife Council.
He continued: “Students like Donna and our other award winners demonstrate to us that the learning journey can prove to be a life-changing process. These awards recognise the achievements of the students in their chosen field and I wish all the winning students every success in their future studies.”
Donna, who is studying NQ Introduction to Nursing and Care Work, has been on a huge learning journey since her time at the Leven Campus. She now boasts an increase in confidence, a positive outlook and qualifications that have secured her a place on the full-time NC Pre Access to Nursing and Care course after the summer.
Donna said: “I am so much happier and have a much brighter future to look forward to. My confidence has been boosted since I started at the College in Leven and I thank the lecturers for their support.”
