Viva Las Vegas for Adam Smith College Student

An Adam Smith College student proved that taking on external work placements during his period of study was well-worth the gamble after securing a full-time position – and a trip to Las Vegas.

Richard Cook, 24, from Leven, recently secured a full-time position with local estate agency Century 21 after completing two successful work placements whilst studying SVQ IT Users Level 2 and 3 at Adam Smith College’s Leven Campus.

When the Fife team of Century 21 won the industry award of ‘Centurion’ status for 2010, they generously invited Richard to share in the company’s success, flying Richard and a group of employees out to Las Vegas for a three-day conference which culminated in the Century 21 International Awards.

Richard said: “This was a life changing experience for me. Everyone was so nice and keen to share their experience of working in the field of ‘real estate’, as they call it in America, and I know I will keep in touch with many of the people I met.

“The trip made me realise that there is a big world out there and Century 21 is helping me discover it. My skills are expanding all the time and I could not have achieved all of this without the support of the lecturers at Adam Smith College – especially Sandra Paterson, Lecturer, Computing, Multimedia and Network Technologies.”

Century 21 is a global estate agency and has been in the UK since 2005. They pride themselves on putting the customer first as they recognise that selling or buying a property is an important decision making process and they aim to make this as stress free as possible using highly trained staff.
