HN Unit Autistic Spectrum Disorder

This short course is intended for those working with adults or children who have or display characteristics of autistic spectrum disorder. It is a stand alone unit which is part of the HNC/D Additional Support Needs framework.

Duration and Attendance

18 weeks – Evenings, 3 hours per week

Entry Requirements

It is essential that you are currently working with children, young people and/or adults with ASD either as a practitioner or within an appropriate work placement.

Candidates should have good communication skills, both written and oral. These can be evidenced either by the achievement of nationally recognised qualifications or by the completion of a pre-course interview part of which could take the form of a written assignment. The skills to undertake this unit could also be demonstrated through an employer's reference or the process of application and interview.

Further Study

Further units in the care field or those who meet the entry requirements may progress onto HNC Additional Support Needs: Supporting the Individual.

Career Opportunities

May allow progression in career in care sector in conjunction with an appropriate group award.
