BSc Web Design and Development
Demand for graduates within the dynamic and constantly evolving World Wide Web industry remains strong. Implementing successful web applications requires the planning, development and management of a range of media design solutions, therefore you will have the opportunity to work collaboratively to develop your practical skills, learn project management techniques and improve your communication and negotiation skills. Candidates will learn how to develop Rich Internet Applications using AJAX and Flex Technologies, using a range of software tools including Adobe CS5, undertake Database Design, learn ASP, Action Scripting and Cold Fusion.
What You Study
- Rich Internet Applications Development – develop your understanding and apply your skills in developing RIAs using AJAX and Flex
- Collaborative Project Development – use a range of project management and Web 2.0 tools to plan and deliver a large scale project whilst working as a member of a group
- Web Development – learn how to develop dynamic web based applications using HTML, CSS, Flex, Java and client and server based technologies
- Database Technologies – databases are the foundation upon which most websites are currently built. You will learn how to plan and develop a range of databases using SQL and Oracle
- Mobile Applications Development
Duration and Attendance
One Year Full-time or Two Years Part-time
Entry Requirements
One of the following:
- HND Interactive Media (incorporating Web Design and Development)
- HND Computing: Software Development (depending on units taken)
- Applicants with appropriate qualifications or relevant industry experience will also be considered
