Higher Counselling Skills
This course will give you a good foundation for any career working with people. The Higher Counselling Skills course focuses on the theories, the process and techniques of counselling.
This is a demanding course and assumes that the student will be open to developing their self-awareness and personal growth throughout the course.
What You Study
- Identification of various counselling "schools" and the main focus of their theories
- Application of appropriate counselling in relation to client needs
- Boundary issues
- Counselling process
- Extension of basic skills
- Application of concepts to self and own experience to demonstrate personal growth
Duration and Attendance
24 Weeks – One evening per week (January and September starts)
Entry Requirements
One of the following:
- Introduction to Counselling
- Industrial experience or other qualifications will be considered on an individual basis
