BCS Award in Computer and Online Basics

SCQF Level 3

The student will learn the basics of how to use a computer, understand what a computer desktop is. Use a Windows operating system, understand what a file, folder is, and the function of different types of applications. Understand what the Internet and World Wide Web is. Learn how to use a Web browser, understand the concept of an online (virtual) community for example social networking sites and forums. Understand and make-up and structure of an e-mail address.

The qualification aim is to provide the learner with the basic knowledge of using a computer, so that they can complete basic and everyday tasks in a confident way.
