Introduction to Construction Get Ready for Work

SCQF Level 4

This Get Ready for Work Programme will introduce you to a variety of Construction related disciplines.

What You Study

This course is designed so that students learn from practical experience in a construction environment.

You will still be required to cover core topics although all other activity will have practical exercises from the following subject areas:

  • Brickwork
  • General Building Operations
  • Construction Site Health and Safety
  • Plumbing Skills
  • Carpentry and Joinery
  • Painting and Decorating
  • Information Technology
  • Literacy
  • Numeracy
  • Communication

You may also gain work experience with an employer.

Duration and Attendance

26 weeks (5 days per week for 25 hours in total)

Entry Requirements

Candidates must be referred from Skills Development Scotland Careers Advisor.

Must be between the age of 16 to 18 years.

Further Study

All construction related NC courses may be applied for provided entry requirements are met (see separate courses for details).
