HNC Acting and Performance

SCQF Level 7

This demanding practical course has been designed to equip you with a broad range of performance skills, opening up employment opportunities for you in many aspects of the Theatre Industry.

What You Study

A range of subjects will be offered, a sample of which are listed below:

  • Acting/Movement/Voice
  • Stage Combat/Physical Theatre
  • Audition Skills
  • Community Drama

  • Theatre Practitioners/Methods

Practical Projects

Throughout the course you will be involved in our performance projects, for which this College has an excellent reputation.

Duration and Attendance

  • HNC – One Year Full-time
  • HND – Two Years Full-time

This course is offered as a one year HNC or two year HND. Entry requirements are the same for both.

Entry Requirements

One of the following:

  • 2 Highers including English or Drama at Grade C or above and 4 Standard Grades
  • Relevant NQ course at SCQF level 5
  • Industrial experience or other qualifications will be considered on an individual basis

AND

  • Successful Audition (Candidates will be required to take part in a workshop and perform a monologue. This can be of their own choice or supplied by the college. Details upon application)

Entry to degree courses in Performing Arts is by audition therefore formal articulation routes do not exist, apart from at the University of the West of Scotland.
