HNC Additional Support Needs: Supporting the Individual

SCQF Level 7

This course is intended to provide a progression route for students who wish to continue higher level study in the area of Additional Support Needs (ASN). You will undertake a placement for two days per week between September and June to give you practical experience in working in this sector.

Duration and Attendance

One Year Full-time or Two Years Part-time/Evening

Entry Requirements

One of the following:

  • 2 Highers and 2 Standard Grades
  • NC Early Education and Childcare
  • NQ Education Support Assistance (Group Award and Communication and Information Technology Intermediate 2)
  • SVQ Level 2 Children's Care, Learning and Development
  • SVQ Level 3 Children's Care, Learning and Development
  • Experience within the Care sector and equivalent alternative qualifications will be considered on an individual basis

AND

  • Attendance at group information session
  • Students must also be accepted as a PVG scheme member through the College system. Placements cannot be started without this (see Disclosure Scotland for more information about the Protection of Vulnerable Groups)

Applicants should have their funding in place prior to the start of the course. An Individual Learning Account may be used towards funding the course.
