The HNC Police Studies is designed to give a confident grounding in the skills and aptitudes required for effective policing and security work. You will also develop an understanding of the issues which impact modern security services and build proficiency and knowledge to prepare you for employment in this challenging and complex work environment.

Duration and Attendance
One Year Full-time or Two Years Part-time
Entry Requirements
One of the following:
- 1 Higher at Grade C or above in a relevant subject and 3 Standard Grades at Grade 2 or above
- Relevant NQ/SVQ course comprising 14 units, 4 at level 6
Further Study
Career Opportunities
This course will prepare you for:
- Application to the Police for a career as a Police Officer*
- Career in the Custodial Services or Private Security Services
- A career in youth, community or related voluntary work
*The HNC in Police Studies develops a range of skills and capabilities which will prepare you for the Police Selection Process but cannot guarantee you entry into the Service as you will still have to meet and evidence all requirements of the role.
