HND Accounting

From managing financial data using the very latest computer software to auditing, taxation and law, this course offers you the full range of specialist skills. Accounting is a well respected and rewarding career choice for those seeking a challenge. In addition to giving you an edge within the Accountancy job markets, the HNC/D is a stepping stone to a career in the world of finance. It is also an entry method into the 2nd/3rd year of an Accountancy degree or ACCA, CIMA and other professional bodies.

Year 1

  • Recording Financial Information
  • Preparing Final Accounts
  • Using Financial Accounting Software (SAGE)
  • Costing
  • Management Accounting using Information Technology

Year 2

  • Financial Reporting and Analysis
  • Accounting for Specialised Transactions
  • Business Taxation
  • Management Accounting for Decision Making
  • Management Accounting for Planning and Control

Duration and Attendance

  • HNC – One Year Full-time or Two Years Part-time (Evening)
  • HND – Two Years Full-time

This course is offered as a one year HNC or two year HND. Entry requirements are the same for both.

Entry Requirements

One of the following:

  • 1 Higher in a relevant subject and 4 Standard Grades at Grade 2 or above
  • NC Business Level 5
  • Industrial experience or other qualifications will be considered on an individual basis

Further Study

After HNC:

  • 2nd year HND Accounting, Adam Smith College (dependant on subjects/credits achieved)

After HND:

  • 3rd Year BA Accounting with Finance, Adam Smith College
  • 3rd Year BA Business Administration, Adam Smith College
  • 3rd Year BA Business Studies, Adam Smith College
  • ACCA/CIMA/CIPVA/CAT
