HN Unit Criminology
This unit covers a diverse range of social science subjects. The main intention of the unit is to provide you with an understanding of the contribution that the main criminological theories provide society in analysing criminal behaviour. You will examine the nature and extent of crime; crime in terms of theories of individual behaviour; criminal behaviour in terms of environmental factors and describe the aims, nature and development of a penal system within the United Kingdom.

Duration and Attendance
Entry Requirements
Various methods of assessment are used including essays, class based assessments and an independent project of approximately 3000 words. As a result entry to this course is set at one SQA Higher in a relevant academic subject.
Further Study
This course may be used to progress onto a related Social Science course within the College and/or university level study.
