NC Higher Access to Teacher Training
This course provides the opportunity to supplement existing qualifications and experience in order to apply for the BEd Primary. The placement component of this course gives desirable experience within a primary school setting.

Work Experience
Students undertake a work placement within a primary school for one day per week as part of this programme. All students will apply to have a PVG (Protection of Vulnerable Groups) check carried out by Disclosure Scotland. A satisfactory PVG return is essential in order to commence the placement and complete the course.
Duration and Attendance
Entry Requirements
One of the following:
- 1 Higher and 6 Standard Grades; 4 at Grade 2 or above (including English) and 2 at Grade 3 or above including Maths
- Applications from those with experience in the Childcare sector who do not meet all the entrance requirements may be considered. However, at least 1 Higher, Core Maths 3 and English Standard Grade 2/Intermediate 2 are still mandatory at entry
An interview is an integral part of the recruitment process for this programme. This course will not be suitable for applicants who already have the main Highers taught on the programme.

Note: This area of work demands applicants who are highly motivated. Good interpersonal and communication skills, excellent timekeeping and attendance are essential.
This programme represents a stage in student training to become a teacher. For those considering nursery nursing as an option, NC Early Education may be more suitable.
