NC Intermediate 2 Furniture Production and Design

SCQF Level 5

This course provides you with the core skills required for a career in the furniture industry. You will work through a range of projects which will challenge your thinking and practical design skills. Many of the subjects are integrated, so you'll be completing assessments for a few subjects through one project.

  • Furniture Drawing
  • Veneering and Polishing
  • Upholstery
  • Design and Make Projects
  • Computer Aided Drawing
  • General Drawing Techniques
  • Carcase and Frame Construction

Duration and Attendance

One Year Full-time and Infill/Day Release

Entry Requirements

One of the following:

  • 4 Standard Grades at Grade 4 or above including English, Graphic Communication, Craft and Design and/or Art and Design
  • Relevant NQ course
  • Industrial experience or other qualifications will be considered on an individual basis

AND

  • A suitable portfolio of Art and Design

Further Study

  • HNC/D Furniture Design
  • HNC/D Interior Design
