NC Intermediate 2 General Construction Skills

SCQF Level 5

This course is designed to meet the demands of the construction industry for General Construction Skills and proof of safety consciousness through a CSCS card.

What You Study

  • Health and safety (including industry test)
  • General Building Operations (SVQ Level 2 – including kerb laying and modular paving)
  • Information Technology
  • Brickwork Skills
  • Communication Skills
  • Painting and Decorating

Duration and Attendance

One Year Full-time

Entry Requirements

One of the following:

  • Achieved a course award in Skills for Work and attained General Standard Grades in Maths and English
  • Achieved a course award in Access to Construction Foundation
  • 5 General Standard Grades of which Maths and English are essential
  • Relevant industrial experience or other qualifications will be considered on an individual basis

As part of the selection process there will also be a group information session and aptitude tests. Applicants with additional support needs will be given alternative arrangements if needed.

Career Opportunities

This entry level course is a great way to start a career in Construction. Candidates will be better informed when considering a vocation in the Construction industries. Students may be offered a work placement which will help them gain experience of working in the Construction industry. As a qualified general building operative who has been awarded a CSCS card you may also be able to gain employment.
