NQ Intermediate 1 and 2 Built Environment

SCQF Level 6

This comprehensive course will provide an excellent grounding if you hope to follow a career within the Construction industry. This programme is offered with a choice of options and individual class groups will be created for each specialism, however the core units for all options will provide for the national award Built Environment.

Option 1 - NQ Built Environment - Joinery

For those wishing to continue their education but retain a particular focus on joinery and the developments within this trade as the Construction industry moves towards more sustainable practices.

Option 2 - NQ Built Environment - Construction Technician

For those wishing to progress onto technician roles such as quantity surveying and architectural technology or management positions within the Construction industry.

Option 3 - NQ Built Environment - Painting and Decorating

For those wishing to continue their education but retain a particular focus on painting and decorating and the developments within this trade as the Construction industry moves towards more sustainable practices.

Option 4 - NQ Built Environment - Renewables

For those wishing to continue their education but retain a particular focus on renewable energies and the developments within this area as the Construction industry moves towards more sustainable practices.

What You Study

All groups will study:

  • Construction Technology
  • Quantity Surveying
  • Computer Aided Design (CAD)
  • Modern Methods of Construction
  • Construction Materials
  • Building Services

In addition to these core subjects you will also undertake further studies relating to your particular option choice.

Duration and Attendance

One Year Full-time

Entry Requirements

One of the following:

  • 4 Standard Grades of which a minimum of 2 should be Credit Level and of which Maths and English are essential
  • Completed a course in a Level 5 NC in either Construction or Engineering and achieved SCQF Level 5 Maths: Craft 1 (F3HV11) or equivalent
  • Relevant industrial experience or other qualifications will be considered on an individual basis
