NQ Higher Education Support Assistance
The course is designed for those who wish to work, or are presently working, as an education support assistant (sometimes known as either classroom assistants or support for learning assistants – this covers both these roles). The PDA in Education Support Assistance qualification is built in to this programme.

- Supporting the Behaviour of Children/Young People
- Supporting Children and Young People in an Educational Setting
- Supporting Children and Young People who require Additional Support
- Professional Practice
- Core Skills: Information Technology, Communication and Numeracy
Work Experience:
Students will undertake a work placement in a primary school one day per week plus four one-week blocks.
Duration and Attendance
Entry Requirements
- 5 Standard Grades; 2 at Grade 2 or above including English and 3 at Grade 3 or above
AND
- Students must also be accepted as a PVG scheme member through the College system. Placements cannot be started without this. (see Disclosure Scotland for more information about the Protection of Vulnerable Groups)
