PDA Certificate Education Support Assistance
This course is designed for you if you wish to work, or are presently working, as an education support assistant (these assistants are sometimes known as either classroom assistants or support for learning assistants – this qualification covers both roles).

Work Experience
Students will undertake a work placement in a primary school for the equivalent of one day per week. Those who are already in employment as assistants within schools will use their own settings as their "workplace".
Duration and Attendance
Two Years Part-time – One evening per week
Entry Requirements
- 3 Standard Grades including English at Grade 3 or above or equivalent
- Students must also be accepted as a PVG scheme member through the College system. Placements cannot be started without this (see Disclosure Scotland for more information about the Protection of Vulnerable Groups)
Further Study
- HNC Additional Support Needs: Supporting the Individual (depending on previous qualifications)
- HNC Early Education and Childcare (depending on previous qualifications)

Applicants should have their funding in place prior to the start of the course. An Individual Learning Account may be used towards funding the course.
