SVQ Level 4 Management

SCQF Level 8

Students have the opportunity to study a number of management and leadership subjects appropriate to their aspirations and work experience. Competencies covered include personal skills and working with people, providing direction and managing oneself, facilitating and managing change, risk, health and safety, and using resources and achieving results. The difference between qualification level follows from the number of units pursued and the depth of knowledge required. Level 3 comprises 4 mandatory and 3 optional units chosen from a list of 11. Level 4 comprises 5 mandatory and 3 optional units chosen from a list of 17.

Duration and Attendance

This course is undertaken in your workplace under the supervision of experienced management professionals using a flexible approach to match individual learning needs. Typically these seminars are held on a monthly basis, the programme can be commenced at any time, and completion usually takes from 12 to 18 months.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal educational requirements for this programme but eligibility will depend on the candidate's particular job role. They must be involved in a management or leadership role, ideally for three years or more. Candidates must also ensure the full support of their employer regardless of the funding source.

Further Study

Level 3 students may opt to follow a programme leading to the award of an HNC/D Management. On successfully completing Level 4 students can consider pursuing a BA in Management or a Chartered Institute of Management Diploma.

Career Opportunities

The programme is targeted to practical people wishing to advance their position in the workplace based on their leadership and management skills. On enrolment Level 4 students will be provided with a Student Membership of the Chartered Institute of Management for 12 months, eligible for conversion to full membership on successful completion.
