Certificate Stage 1 British Sign Language

SCQF Level 4

British Sign Language Certificate Level 1 comprises two parts:

Introduction to British Sign Language (BSL)

This introductory course is usually taught over the first 10 weeks. It offers students the opportunity to learn some everyday British Sign Language. At the end of the course, students will have the opportunity to receive a certificate, having gone through an assessment of their skills.

Foundation Level British Sign Language (BSL)

Following the assessment for the introductory BSL course, this level is usually taught over the following weeks. This course offers learners the opportunity to develop and use their everyday BSL skills. At the end of the course, students will have the opportunity to undertake an assessment of their skills and receive a certificate.
