NQ Workskills

SCQF Level 3 - 4

Workskills is aimed at young people in their final year of school. The course offers the opportunity to gain experience in subjects such as Catering, Construction, Woodwork, Engineering, Art and Craft, Sports and Recreation, Hairdressing and Beauty, Computing and Core Skills. Students are able to improve skills and knowledge in a variety of practical and classroom based subjects to develop their interest and abilities in a range of options leading to SQA certification. Opportunity to study on a part-time basis may be possible where students wish to remain at school.

Duration and Attendance

Up to one year full-time or part-time (August and January start dates)

Entry Requirements

Students should be working at Access Level 3 and above. Entry will be determined through successful personal interview with the Curriculum Head for the programme.

Where a prospective student is still attending school an application must be made through their guidance teachers or Careers; a transition form is also essential.

Career Opportunities

Students who complete the programme should have a clearer idea of the next step they wish to take. This could be employment or a more specialised College course.
