Hoping to go to university?
This is the time of year for students hoping to go to university to apply online with University and College Admissions Service. UCAS then sends applications to the universities of the student’s choice.
Student Guides will be available at College receptions or from Guidance to help students get started at the start of term. Come along to one of the demonstrations Guidance will be running on how to apply and how to write your Personal Statement.
Your Curriculum Head, Guidance team and Skills Development Scotland advisors can also see you individually to help with Personal Statements.
Important UCAS Dates
Saturday 15 October 2011 – the deadline for Oxford, Cambridge and all medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine and veterinary science courses;
Sunday 15 January 2012 – UCAS closing date for ‘on time’ applications for all courses except some art and design courses with 24 March 2012 deadline;
Friday 24 March 2012 – the deadline for art and design courses that do not have a 15 January 2012 deadline;
Friday 30 June 2012 – the deadline for late applications. Note: universities and colleges do not guarantee to consider applications they receive after 15 January 2012 and some popular courses may not have vacancies after that date. Students need to check with individual universities and colleges if unsure and apply as early as possible.
